Many moons ago, I was "dry" for about nine years of my adult life and I am still trying to come up with a good answer to this. Its not because I'm buzzed, though I am, but because it was pretty tame. You know, reading, messing around on the computer, watching stupid movies, et al. I guess.

I hear you though, booze takes the edge off the bullshit of a day/week like nothing else. To each their own, I reckon.

A friend of mine here has crossed over to the undrunk side. He now cooks food with nuts and seeds in it, does something called pilates and reads self-help books. Fun.

Sounds like this friend of yours probably also has sex with men for fun and/or profit. Maybe also farm animals. Time will tell.

I've been thinking about this for a long time. So your work day ends, what else are you supposed to do but drink? I don't get it, what do undrunk people do for fun? Do they have fun? Are they people?

I think they get high on life. That's what they told us, back in grade school. Oh, wait. That was drugs. Alcohol wasn't considered a problem back then. I dunno. Maybe they come home, curse at the dog, and kick the wife (or husband), and then sob in the corner, until it's time to go to bed. Then they wake up, gloriously undrunk, and contemplate slashing themselves with the razor in the bathroom, until at last, they get in the car, and go to work, only to come home again, and get that old feeling of deja FU.

True this. Plus, they live in tract housing, talk a lot about the bible and how they can't understand how sad it is that some people always have to be drinking. Some of my wife's relatives used to do this and even staged sort of a shadow intervention with me once, until she told them to mind their own damn business, as she could see I was getting wound up and ready to pitch.
