Cost of Bookers Whisky

Postby mediakill » Thu Feb 18, 2010 11:35 am

After all the mentions of Bookers in posts past I decided to take the plunge and get a bottle since I heard so much about it. From the posts mentioned it was mentioned that it costs in the range of 50-55 bucks; fair i think. Imagine my surprise when my local wine and spirits store( supposedly a warehouse wholesaler; my ass with their prices =P) listed it as 75 bucks down from $118! How much have you guys paid for bookers; seems obscene with that plus tax($80) i could probably buy almost 2 bottles at 100. Exactly how much does it retail for? Instead I opted for a nice big 1.75 l of Wild turkey 101 instead but still i was flabbergasted at the cost; was actually thinking of dropping in the range of 100-110 to get 2 bottles instead. Anyone know a good online dealer who's prices are better? also curious at how many people here order their booze online since the prices near them are f'd =) Think I might have to check out online retailers
Just came back from england and duty free had a nice deal on single malts 50euro for like three of a selection they had; chose aberlour 12, achentoshan 12, and glenfarclas 105 cask strength .are the ones i chose. Whats your opinion on how i made out; and has anyone tried those? Not a whisky pro
Also was thinking of getting some rare breed wt is it that much better than normal WT it doesn't cost that much more but not sure if its worth it. Anyways just pissed at the price difference of almost double from a supposedly marked down cost on the bookers. How much do you guys pay where you live? No sailor jerry here though; staten island ny.

I would try the WT rare breed, IMO it's definitely worth the money but I don't generally buy it as I like the bit of 101.

Booker's is such a powerhouse that I would definitely try it at some point, if only a shot. bevmo.com is the one I've looked at the most, $59 for a 1/5th on there, but that doesn't include shipping.

I've gotten it at about $55 per bottle, but frankly it's a Bourbon I don't regularly drink or crave. WT 101 or even Knob Creek are more palatable for me, and OW 107 of course.
Drink your fucking drink, how about that? Stop the fuckin' presses, isn't it genius??

So at 75-80 it would be considered a rip-off; anybody know its retail cost; too lazy to web check =) Where'd you buy your bookers for that price; i'm here in ny.
Yeah heard the rare breed is smoother; so worth getting for guests? just wondering if its worth it compared to regular wt; is it worth the cost difference. Want mostly the bookers for guests; something strong and overpowering that can soak in my decanter ready to be unleashed ;-) also any suggestions on really good bourbon for guests; personal recommendations etc Something to wow guests with. Preferably not costing much more than like 50 range give or take

Get upstate about 7 hours or so. Marketview in Rochester has a tremendous Bourbon aisle and cheap prices.

More costly would be never having had the experience of drinking Bookers. It is exquisite.

Booker's is amazing. I had shots on St. Paddy's 07, in my old watering hole: Shenanigans, Louisville, KY. The owner's hot wife was from Maine, and I'm a Masshole, so I stood on my stool, she stood on the bar and we did like 4 shots of Booker's. So friggin good. I believe half of mine were on the house, too.

Booker's here was $54.95 a fifth at my local last week. I looked at it, again. Thought about it, again. Then bought another liter of EW black for, I think, eighteen bucks.
Oh, that? Yeah, I did that, it's my fault. I'm sorry.

I do the same thing every time I go to the liquor store. I look at the Bookers for $55, the Pappy Van Winkle 20-Year Old for $100, then buy the handle of Evan for $23.

A fifth of bookers goes for about $60 here, haven't seen it at any of my usual haunts, so couldnt say the per pour price.
