Interestingly enough, when Spielberg was looking for a dramatic counterpoint for the film, i.e. a way to make Quint a more sympathetic character, he telephoned (long time Oliver Stone collaborator) John Milius for advice. Milius more or less dictated the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) scene down the telephone line. Which probably explains why all the characters are drunk in that scene.Hugh Janblack wrote:...just got doen watchingthe best scene - Jaws - where Quin tells the story of the Indinapolis...

Started off with "Withnail & I" (Richard E Grant's finest hour, wine, sherry, lighter fluid) and then segued into "The Party" (Peter Sellers, 1968, Martinis, chicken, hairpieces).
Strangebrew, Barfly, Cocktail (Yes) all on schedule for forthcoming weeks.

Nirvana.
