Almost murdered in Chicago

Postby Broomy81 » Mon Nov 02, 2009 3:11 pm

I invited this fine gentleman to sit with us as Shannon's Landing last night, the bar was pretty dead, and he was all alone. After some good conversation, we found out he is a retired US Navy veteran with a family in Japan, just home to visit some old friends and family. Sadly, the bar was out of VSOP, so we introduced him to fine Irish whiskey, which he enjoyed. Sometime shortly after his third, is when he told me of his "Gangsta Disciples" roots, and (while his face became alarmingly close to mine) of his intent to murder me in the parking lot. After a good half hour or so of attempting to explain the various reasons why, and ways he would murder me, is when he decided to drive back to Southside so he could "get his money". My friend Kurt kindly declined his invitation to accompany him, and I, obviously, was not invited to attend. We'll miss you, creepy ghetto gangster guy.... and thanks for making Sunday...such a funday!

At one of the more colorful locals in Mankato a friend of mine was once asked if she "knew what it felt like to be stabbed." While I was not with her at the time I still think the question may belong in the bad pick-up line hall of fame.

Haha! Good stories from the both of you.

The closest thing I've been to something like that must have been when I told somebodyhe they should keep his arms to himself and not wave them around so much in a crowded bar(he knocked a fresh beer right out of my hands), because people who do so can end up losing them, and usually aren't deserving to have arms in the first place. My threats were, of course, entirely hollow, but the guy looked as though he'd seen a ghost.

But did he buy you a beer to replace the one he spilled?

Actually he did, and I'm shocked.

I remember some other time I went to an expensive night club, there I got a glass of beer for free, then when it was almost empty somebody knocked it out of my hands. The perp bought me a new one without hesitation. I'm glad, because a 0,4l glass of bad pilsner costs 14 dollars there.

I really cringe every time I remind myself of the prices I paid for booze in Norway.

It's not always that bad. But it really depends on the places. You develop an sense of awarness of these kinds of establishments after a while.
